The Ladies Auxiliary of the Coulterville VFW Post 9454 recently awarded the first, second and third place winners of their post's Patriot's Pen Essay Contest. Patriot's Pen is a national contest for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Each writes an essay based on a theme chosen by the VFW. This year's theme was "Why I am an American Patriot?"

Last week Post Commander Jim Loeser, Ladies Auxiliary President Nita Gordon and other members of the VFW met at Don Pedro Elementary School and awarded Aaron Rosander with First Place, Marissa Selby with Second Place and Desiree Gonzales with Third Place. Each winner received a VFW Patriot's Pen back-pack, tickets to theme parks and gift cards.

Welcome to the Lake Don Pedro Blog

Welcome to the Lake Don Pedro Blog!
This is the place to meet people, offer comments, post photos of the Lake and other aspects of living here, and much more. It's up to us to make this a hoppin place!
I have lived here for 2 years and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I moved here with my husnabd and two sons from Hughson. We were tired of living in a city, even a small one, where everyone lives on top of their neighbor. We wanted a little land and a nice place to raise the boys so we came here. My husband had been trying to talk me into moving up here for many years but I was reluctant because I am afraid of snakes. Well, I have only seen a few (mostly in the last few weeks) and it's true that they are just as afraid of you as you are of them. Now, you couldn't drag me back down the hill!
So how long have you lived here and where did you move from? I look forward to meeting more of my neighbors.
